Reaction to vidaza injections?

Received a call earlier from my mom and she is canceling her mammogram as she said her chest is sore, itchy and peeling. She had a horrible port infection so wasn't previously concerned about the itching as it is a sign of healing. I don't live in Utah where she is but will be there on the 24th of this month. She further said every Vidaza injection site is now itching and peeling. Is this normal? She is afraid to put any cream or ointment on for fear of being allergic and not able to fight off the infection. She chose to not follow Vidaza 5 day dosage with Nuprogen, could this be a cause? Her next appointment is July 15th should we try and get in sooner? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Wherenext,

I suggest phoning the doctor to report this symptom. The doctor may know what to do about it or may want to arrange for an earlier appointment.

Any for of infection needs to be looked at pronto......
When my husband was having Vidaza injections.....we used Evening Primrose Oil.....we just put a hole in the jell caps and put the oil right on the injection site right when finishing the injection and 2 more times a day.....
It is not unusual to have redness an peeling at the site with Vidaza....

I used evening promise oil as well but always my injection sites would be very red & angry & then later peel & itch.

You are awesome thanks for the responses. Wish they would tell patients so they and family members know nothing to worry about just a reaction.
