Rep. Matsui Re-introduces BMFD Research and Treatment Act (HR 1230)
The Bone Marrow Failure Disease Research and Treatment Act, which was introduced to Congress last year, was re-introduced by Representative Doris Matsui [D-CA] on February 26, 2009.
Now known as HR 1230, the proposed legislation seeks to establish an Acquired Bone Marrow Failure Disease Registry at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), direct research into environmental causes of these diseases, coordinate outreach and educational initiatives targeted to minority populations, and improve diagnostic practices and patient care for bone marrow failure diseases. As of March 7, 2009, these 19 Members of Congress have signed on as co-sponsors: Neil Abercrombie [D-HI]If your U.S. Representative is NOT on this list, please go to the Grassroots Action Center page and click the Take Action button. Personalize the sample message to tell your story and why you want your Representative to support HR 1230. If your Representative is already a co-sponsor, be sure to call or email them to thank them for their support. More information and the complete text of HR 1230 is available from the AA&MDSIF. |
The U.S. House of Representatives is on its summer recess, so elected officials are in their home state until September 8, 2009.
The AA&MDSIF Grassroots Action Center has issued an alert detailing how you can contact your elected officials while they are in your state. When speaking to your representative or his or her staff, urge them to cosponsor the Bone Marrow Failure Disease Research and Treatment Act (H.R. 1230), if they haven't already (see list below). When speaking to your senators or their staff, urge them to preserve funding for the Department of Defense Bone Marrow Failure Disease research program in the 2010 Defense Appropriations Act. The list of H.R. 1230 cosponsors is up to 29: Neil Abercrombie [D-HI] |
I sent an E-mail to my Rep. Rooney of Florida urging him to co-sponsor HR1230.
Everyone should do the same! Thanks |
