The results of these investigations show that older MDS patients aren't given referrals for transplant consideration as often as they should be. The age at which transplants, especially those with reduced intensity conditioning, are viable treatment choices continues to rise, but some physicians may not be aware of transplant opportunities that their older patients should investigate. Sharing and spreading this message could lead to improved survival and quality of life for many more patients. |
