total fatigue and ATG
 

I had ATG in May and am now taking Cyclosporine. It seems as though I am getting more tired as time goes on. I'm out of breath just getting out of the car. Not fun. Has anyone experienced this and is it normal? My doctor has said fatigue is a side effect of ATG and Cyclo, but I certainly didn't expect it to wipe me out to this extent. I get transfusions every two weeks and platelets every 9 days.

And watching television is like hard work too?

I've been there. That stuff just killed me.

And I felt really strange when I went out in sunlight. Like I was a vampire or something.

Your experience matches ours.

After ATG my wife was exhausted much of the time. She'd rest on the sofa, come to the dinner table and eat most of a meal, but be unable to finish because she had to head back to the sofa.

There was a slight incline in the walkway at the front of the hospital building and she told me it felt like a mountain to climb.

The fatigue gets better as you do. These days we joke about the mountain when we walk up that incline.

Oh man!

The horrid "slight inclines" or even worse...the dreaded "gentle rise." Those usually meant shortness of breath, insane headaches, and the hammer pounding in my ear.

It took about 2 1/2 months to start getting those cobwebs out of my system.

I went back to work 4 weeks after having ATG AND I had c difficile, which came back 2 more times at work. Not fun.
