Aplastic Anemia - BMT Pre-Treatment Drugs
Hi All!
I was given a calendar of my protocol today for my BMT and am wondering if other transplantees out there have had any advice or experience with these particular drugs (I also posted this question on the "AA" forum: Day -5 - Fludarabine Day -4 - Fludarabine/ATG Day -3 - Fludarabine/ATG/Cytoxan (re-start cyclosporin) Day -2 - Fludarabine/ATG/Cytoxan Day -1 - Total Body Radiation Day Zero - TRANSPLANT!!! - WOO WOO!! Day 1 - Methotrexate Day 3 - Methotrexate Day 6 - Methotrexate Day 11 - Methotrexate Thanks!! |
Katherine,
My pre-transplant regimen was very different from yours, but with the exception of Fludarabine, I had the same stuff: Day -7 through Day -4 - Total Body Irradiation Day -3 and Day -2 - Cytoxan Day -1 - Rest (no treatments) Day 0 - Transplant I was very worried about the cytoxan because of all the ugly things we know about what chemotherapy does to people. Some people breeze through radiation and then get quite sick from chemo. I was the opposite, very sick during TBI treatment, but fine during chemo. The amount of radiation you will have is substantially less that what I got -- in part because the protocols have continued to improve and less harsh doses are possible. I also had Methotrexate on a slightly different schedule, but I don't remember any particular side effects of that. My story is posted here. Don't hesitate to ask me about any of it. Regards, Ruth |
My son's conditioning was exactly the same as yours, except, due to his younger age, he did not have radiation.
He sailed through transplant and recovered quickly with no GVH whatsoever. I wish you all the best. |
