Dad's count low today...
his hgb dropped to 4.7....not sure what his other counts are....said he doesnt want anymore of the dacogen....he's at the hospital now getting a transfusion. His hematologist only ordered 2 pints of blood....that will not last or sustain him very long. I guess the hospital will give him more if they deem necessary.
He's so tired of all the treatment.....doesn't look the same...he is a shadow of what he used to be....:( It's so hard watching your parents deteriorate. :( |
very hard indeed. I use to cry all the time when my dad was going thru it like that. is nothing working for him? I will keep you in my prayers.

Dad received 3 pints of blood in the hospital on 9/27/11 (they gave him an additional pint) and received chelation treatment with Deferoxamine.
His counts on 10/3/11: WBC - 1.9 RBC - 3.38 HGB - 10.2 PLT - 10 His platelets are very low. |
Still waiting on second option
My father-in laws blood count was in the nines last week, back down to 7.2 this week so he received two pints. Still waiting on second option to come back, not getting any treatment at present time. Oxygen levels are good. Blood pressure is fine but still having dizzy spells. He fell again last week so doctors are starting him on some therapy to help his leg strength. The doctor thinks they are missing something. His MDs score is low and he has the Pure red cell aplasia but his count will drop 2 points all at once. He is hanging in there.
