Should MDS patients avoid specific food?
As MDS patients , were you advised to avoid taking some food such as apple, banana. I don't know what websites my father got this information. My father couldn't eat much which is making his situation even worse. I suggested mom to make some snack of fruit, but she told me so. I doubted it but have to double check if it is true. Please let me know if there is any taboo on food? Thank you.

estelle,
Short answer: If your father is at risk of infection then thick-skinned fruit like bananas are safer than thin-skinned fruit like apples, if eaten raw. In my opinion there are three aspects to consider when it comes to the diet of an MDS patient:
If a patient is having trouble eating anything or keeping it down then the doctor needs to know about it. |
