Valporic acid
Has heard about Valporic acid able to treat anemia for patients with RCMD ?
|
Hi, my doctor talked about adding it to my Vidaza if I didn't respond. He did add it to the treatment of a fellow patient who had AML which responded to Vidaza and this returned to MDS. this gentlemans blast count was rising again and he added the Epilim. This gentleman had been given a life expectancy of 3-4 months by another doctor. My doctor gave him another 16 months before he finally succumbed from a massive brain hemorrhage.
I don't know if further research has made it outdated but I haven't heard of it being used for a while now. Regards Chirley |
Valproic acid - Depakene - Epival
Hi Vikasgoyal,
Valproic acid is a so called histone deacetylase inhibitor (HCAC inhibitor). It is drug that changes groups at the DNA like Vidaza and Dacogen (not the same groups). Valproic acid is approved for example for epilepsia and called Depakene, Epival and several other names. It is in trials for MDS. We have one member Lynn who had a very positive result with Epival during at least 3 years. You can search Epival and get her story. Kind regards Birgitta-A |
