Loosing weight with MDS?
On fourth week of Aranesp
|
Dick,
Aranesp may get your counts up again. It has some risks, especially if used long-term, but it makes sense to deal with your immediate problem of low hematocrit and hemoglobin. You can do a web search for "aranesp" or "darbepoetin alfa" to find the list of possible side effects. It's wise to be aware of the symptoms to watch out for. Blasts in bone marrow are normally below 5%, so 6% isn't much above that. If they stay that low, it's much less of a concern than if the blast count increases over time. I hope the treatment returns your MDS to a stable state. |
