As far as I understand mitotic activity means that the cells really are dividing. When it is stem cells that are OK and are going to be red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets all is fine
.
You are right about that we can feel that our bodies are fighting infections and all kinds of other dangerous things that try to cause damage.
