If you do not have a family history of this disease or have never had chemotherapy, something in your environment probably caused it. I know from working on my husband's VA claim that smoking, working in or around gasoline/fuel, furniture factories, medical labs, agriculture, and paper mills all put people at risk for MDS. The rate of this disease among Vietnam veterans is much higher than the general population. I wish you good luck.
