Hope Lodge

And hopefully this is the correct forum to post the link to assistance for lodging in various locations.

Th criteria for the Hope Lodge in NYC is that the patient needs to travel more than one hour to receive treatment.

We are scheduled to stay there next week and are looking forward to seeing the facilities, meeting other people who are going through a challenging time, and not having to travel to NYC each day for treatment.

"...Currently, there are 29 Hope Lodge locations throughout the United States. Accommodations and eligibility requirements may vary by location, and room availability is first come, first served. To find a Hope Lodge and to learn more about a specific facility, please visit that location's page, or call the American Cancer Society toll free anytime, day or night, at 1-800-ACS-2345.

If there is not a Hope Lodge in your area, please call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 for more information. Also you can visit Joe's House for additional lodging resources or enter your zip code on www.cancer.org's Find Local Resources page and select the category Housing."

Thanks, Debbie.

There really isn't a forum section for lodging assistance so this is as good a place as any, and it made a suitable addition to the Patient Resources and Support Groups list on our Resources page.

What a treat!

Not only was the room comfortable, but they also had a kitchen and laundry on each floor in addition to the gathering area on the main floor and a large terrace only a half block from Penn Station.

Two companies sponsored a free dinner on different nights, afternoon tea and yoga classes on another night and then a Relay for Life Celebration on Friday night.

The best part was that we were able to meet other people, two people who recently had BMTs and one of them who was on the same trial as my husband, hopefully a glimpse towards the future. Both of the people who had BMTs are booked to stay for three months so they can be close to the hospital.

They have already confirmed our stay for the next cycle in mid-July and we look forward to seeing a few people who will be there again at the same time.

I'll post an update to our journey in the MDS forum.
