ATG and blood counts?
Is ATG supposed to bring down your blood counts? So far, only my father's platelets have gone down a little bit (90 range), but his white blood cells are still in the 8 range and red blood cells are in the 13 range. Today is his last day of ATG and is getting discharged. His transplant is in exactly 1 week from today.
I thought that his counts were supposed to be suppressed by the medication, so that the donor's cells can take over and kill whatever was left. How is this supposed to work? The way the doctors explained it, I was expecting to see my dad very weak and tired, but he is just the opposite. He walks around the unit everyday for about 20 minutes. I don't want to keep asking the doctors questions, I feel like they are sick of me ![]() |
